WORK/ PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The publication is hand-bound with specialty paper and has screenprinted cover. There is a rich history in the Valle Salado (Salt Valley) in Álava, Spain, that dates back to the neolithic age. Despite this, it was virtually abandoned for almost a century. This publication aims to reflect that heritage & story as authentically as possible, aiming is to preserve endangered spaces and culture. The brand concept is 'The Winter Sun', based on the recurring theme of the sun in Basque culture, it's role in producing salt and the particular atmosphere of the valley, that seems to be frozen in a perpetual winter. The blue hue based on the shadows cast on the salt beds, and the typography choice is inspired by Basque Type.
