ABOUT THE CREATOR/S:
I am Natsuki Wada, a Japanese graphic designer/illustrator based in NYC. I have worked in sales and as a software engineer designing web UI, in Taiwan, Japan & the US. This experience, mixed with my focus on brand identity & storytelling allows me to bring local products to a global market. I am inspired by the unique, local businesses I encounter in NYC. I want to work with businesses to create distinct brands and help them grow. Outside work, I enjoy Rameditation (making ramen + meditation).

WORK/ PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
LaoGanMa has been very successful among the Chinese diaspora, but it can still expand outside of its current customer base while maintaining the connection to its history and the respect it has built up over the decades. The design is updated to be playful, with the founder's image transformed into a simple, cheerful line drawing, so the brand's long-time symbol of quality is preserved, but it can also appeal to a wider audience, including younger generations who are interested in a new culinary experience. The redesign includes photos of the sauce being used on foods other than traditional Asian cuisine, which can be linked to a viral social media campaign to promote the sauce's flexibility.
